Choices for Life began in 2017 at California’s Correctional Training Facility (CTF) in Soledad, with a mission to transform lives from the inside out. Recognizing that traditional reentry programs often miss the mark on personal character development, we created a unique approach known as "The Unselfish Self-Help Program." Our focus is on helping at-risk and incarcerated individuals regain healthy life direction by discovering moral clarity and developing dependable criteria for making productive life choices.
Mission & Vision
At the heart of Choices for Life is the belief that all decisions stem from a common dichotomy: the choice between mere existence and purposeful living. By navigating this universal dilemma through a clear moral path, our participants are empowered to make better choices in all areas of life. We help them develop a healthy perspective on both critical and mundane issues, equipping them with the tools to forgo self-gratification and choose what is right, responsible, and good— to "choose life."

Our Story
Choices for Life began in 2017 at California’s Correctional Training Facility (CTF) in Soledad, with a mission to transform lives from the inside out. Impact
Since its inception, Choices for Life has reached over 400 inmates, providing them with a framework to address a wide range of topics, including personal development, relationships, addiction, anger, abuse, and victim recovery. The program’s success has been recognized and endorsed by CTF Soledad’s leadership, affirming its impact in helping participants break free from the cycle of recidivism.

Expansion
In 2024, Choices for Life is expanding to additional facilities, including CTF’s North Facility and Salinas Valley State Prison, with plans to extend to other institutions in the coming months. The original eight-part course is being expanded to 16 parts, ensuring a more comprehensive journey of growth and transformation. Our goal is simple yet profound: to offer individuals, whether incarcerated or free, the tools they need to redefine their futures and embrace a life of purpose and fulfillment.
